Anna Leigh Ashford
Annaleigh Amanda Ashford, an American singer-dancer and actress. One of her first Broadway productions included Wicked Legally Blonde Hair. Her performance as Essie Carmahiel in You Can't Take It With You as Essie Carmahiel earned her the Tony Award in Best Featured Female Actress in the Play. Annaleigh is a Tony Award winning actress and director, has spent the majority of her professional career working with well-known directors and actors on screen and in television. Ashford next will star opposite Kumail in Robert Siegel's Hulu-exclusive show Welcome to Chippendales which premieres on November 22nd. Ashford is currently in the making for Searchlight Pictures' terror thriller Dust which also features Sarah Paulson. The movie will air on Disney DTC as an Hulu Original. Ashford returns to Broadway in the month of March 2023 where he will star alongside Josh Groban opposite Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd. The production takes place at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre. The same team that created Hamilton producers Jeffrey Seller and director Thomas Kail is at the leading the show. Ashford was last seen as Paula Jones in Ryan Murphy FX series American Crime Story Impeachment. This show is based around the National Crisis, which saw Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky Linda Tripp as the central figure in the first impeachment proceeding in America during the Over a Century. Two seasons ago, Ashford played a prominent role in CBS's hit series B Positive. Created by Marco Pennette and Chuck Lorre it also featured legendary actor Linda Lavin Hector Elizondo and Ben Vereen.No stranger to Broadway Ashford was awarded the Tony Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle Awards for her portrayal of Essie as Essie in You Can't Take It with You. Other Broadway roles are Sunday in the Park with George Wicked Legally Blonde and the originating role of Lauren In Kinky Boots a performance for which she received another Tony Award nomination. Ashford divides her time between Los Angeles & New York. Her birthplace was in Denver & raised there.
